A483 Pool Road, Newtown Bypass and Active Travel Footway Works

To be undertaken during a Full Road Closure from 09:00 on Monday 18th February to 20:00 on Sunday 24th February 2019

Where & Why?

A combination of works including surfacing, bridge inspection and footways is being carried out along Pool Road, Newtown between the Tesco traffic lights and the new Pool Road roundabout on the bypass.  The work is being carried out at short notice because it can only be done under a full road closure when the new bypass is open, and it is only very recently that a date has been set for the opening of the bypass.  A closure will allow the works to be carried out safely, in a more timely manner and will help minimise traffic disruption through Newtown.

Diversions & Safety Measures

The diversion route for the closure will be:-

Northbound:- West on Pool Road – south on A489 Kerry Road – east onto Newtown Bypass at Kerry Road roundabout to Newtown Bypass Pool Road roundabout.

Southbound:- West on Newtown Bypass – north on A489 Kerry Road at Kerry Road roundabout – east on Pool Road.

There will also be temporary traffic lights in use for the Active Travel Footway Scheme both during and after the closure.

Access to properties and businesses along Pool Road will be maintained at all times.
