Works to carry out essential concrete repairs to A465 Clydach Gorge Viaduct. During this time a westbound lane one closure from the Drum and Monkey bus stop for approx. 800m will be in place. The lane closure is in place for safety reasons. Works will commence on 03/07/2026 for 6 weeks. There will also be a series of night time closures as detailed below.
Urgent concrete repairs are required on A465 Clydach Gorge Viaduct on defects discovered during a recent inspection. The repairs are planned for completion by 14/08/2026. A lane one closure is required over the structure until the repair works are completed.
In addition to the above there will be a series of night time closures (20:00 – 06:00) of the A465 Westbound from Glanbaiden roundabout to Brynmawr roundabout, planned for the nights of 29/07/26 and 03/08/26 to 07/08/26. This is to enable concrete repairs on the structure below.
For the night time closures, traffic will be diverted via the A40 from Abergavenny west to Brecon, then south on the A470 to Merthyr, then eastbound on the A465 to Brynmawr.
