All work to be undertaken with a road closure. Working hours are 08:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs.
Due to the deteriorating condition of the carriageway on the A479 at Cwmdu village in Powys, essential carriageway resurfacing works will commence on the 02/11/2026 to 15/11/2026.
To take advantage of the road closure, cyclic maintenance work has been programmed along sections of the A479 between Talgarth and Cwmdu between 02/11/2026 to 06/11/2026.
This will reduce the need for future road closures in the area.
The road closure will operate between Cwmdu and the A479/B4560 Talgarth Roundabout, Talgarth. Access will be available up to the points of closure.
Emergency Services and School/Public Transport buses will be allowed controlled access through the closed sections. Similar arrangements will be in place to allow residents/customers/workers to access and leave the properties within the closure but there will be delays.
The work will be carried out during daylight hours 08:00 – 17:00 under a full carriageway closure. The official signed diversion route will be the A479 to Bronllys, A438 to Pontybat, A470 to Brecon, A40 to Nantyffin to re-join the A479, and vice versa for traffic travelling in the opposite direction.
