Work to carry out essential carriageway resurfacing to Dixton roundabout to commence on 21/09//2026 for 11 nights.
The work will be carried out over the 11 nights 20:00 – 06:00. The works will include alternating northbound and southbound closures with lane closures.
The works are being carried out overnight in September when traffic flows are historically lower to minimise disruption.
HGV Diversion
For traffic heading southbound on the A40, travel northbound on the A40 until Phocle Green roundabout. Take the thrid exit joining the M50, Continue on the M50 until Upper Strensham Gyratory, take the second exit joining the M5. Continue on the M5 up until junction 20 of the M4, take the first off slip joining the M4 Westbound. Continue on the M4 until junction 24 and take the off slip heading for the A449. Follow the A449 and then join the A40.
Vice versa for Northbound traffic.
Non HGV Diversion
Follow the A40 northbound from Dixton and take the 3rd exit at the roundabout at Ross on Wye onto the A40. At Highnam, traffic shall take the 3rd exit from the roundabout onto the A48 to Chepstow. Take the 2nd exit at Highbeech Roundabout onto the A466, then the 4th exit at Newhouse Roundabout onto the westbound M48. Continue onto the M4 westbound to junction 24 Coldra, taking the 4th exit onto the northbound A449, then A40 to Monmouth and return to point of closure
Non-Motorway Traffic
As Above, but take 3rd exit at Highbeech Roundabout to Coldra Roundabout, taking the 5th exit onto the A449.
