Work to construct a new Pedestrian Crossing and Bus Stop on A4042 at Penperlleni. Works to be carried out between 26/01/2026 – 27/03/2026
The works will be carried out over the 9 weeks, primarily during the daytime off-peak traffic hours of 09:30 to 15:30, under lane closures with temporary traffic signal control.
During the final week of works at the end of March, overnight road closures will be required to complete associated works to resurface the carriageway in the vicinity of the new pedestrian crossing. Road closures are required to exclude general traffic from the works area for the safety of the workforce and travelling public.
During road closures, affected vehicles will be diverted from Hardwick Roundabout via the A40 towards Raglan, then along the A449 to the M4 Coldra junction. Traffic permitted to travel on the motorway shall join the M4 westbound and exit at Junction 25A, to rejoin the A4042 northwards towards Mamhilad.
Non-motorway traffic and vehicles weighing over 44 tonnes, must follow the A48 (Newport SDR) to rejoin the A4042. The diversion route is vice-versa for Southbound traffic affected by the closure.
