These comprise the Welsh Government, NMWTRA and SWTRA.

However, this information is made available STRICTLY on the basis that the Welsh Government, its employees, agents, representatives and all others associated with writing, editing, approving or publishing, or any other kind of work in connection with the information:

  1. disclaim any and all responsibility for any inaccuracy, error, omission, lateness or any other kind of inadequacy, deficiency, or flaw in, or in relation to, the information; and
  2. (without limiting (1) above) fully exclude any and all liability of any kind, including negligence on the part of any and all of them to any person or entity that chooses to rely on the information; and
  3. cannot guarantee all information will be available bilingually where our website relies on 3rd party data or systems.

Live information we generate from our traffic management centre systems and in our social media channels is produced in Welsh and English. Where our website relies on 3rd party data or systems, we endeavour to translate as much of the data as possible to present it bilingually, but some elements may only be available in English.

Road network coverage

Traffic Wales provides traffic information for the motorway and trunk road network in Wales. Click here to view a map of our road coverage. Local roads are managed by local authorities. Motorways and trunk roads in England are managed by Highways England.

Our road traffic map, supplied by Elgin, includes various forms of traffic-related information from the Welsh Government road network, local authorities throughout Wales and the Highways England road network. Full details of road coverage and the data published are described within the information panel of the map.

Our road traffic alert page gives updates sourced from our Welsh Government traffic management centres and from Highways England, up to approximately 20 miles beyond the Wales/England border.

Our CCTV camera pages show images from the Welsh Government’s road network only.

Road traffic incidents

Please note that a traffic alert may not be published if the effects of an incident are expected to last fewer than 20 minutes.

We endeavour to provide local road incident information that impacts on the trunk road network, but we cannot guarantee its accuracy.

Planned roadworks and events

Published planned dates may be subject to change at short notice for various reasons, such as adverse weather conditions. We endeavour to maintain the accuracy of planned information, but we may not always be able to publish late changes.

Future planned works and events may not be available for local road networks.

All third party information is supplied on a best endeavours basis and may be withdrawn at any time and without notice.

Diversion routes

For planned and unplanned road closures impacting the Welsh Government road network, we endeavour to publish the diversion route within the road traffic map. We are currently growing this aspect of our service and may not always be able to publish the diversion route online. Diversions continue to be sign-posted at the roadside for road users to refer to during journeys.

Traffic Wales social media use

We operate a number of social media channels to communicate traffic information, the work we do and to promote/support transport-related campaigns.

Our accounts are monitored between the hours of 07:00 – 19:00 Monday to Friday. However, these times may alter due to incidents, events and adverse weather.

We regret we are unable to respond to all enquiries and messages we receive through social media but endeavour to do so as much as we can. We welcome feedback, ideas and engagement from all our followers about the work we do.
