A483 Builth Wells Resurfacing Phase 2

Start date: 03/11/2025 | End date: 02/02/2026

Builth Wells – Phase 2 resurfacing works, footway and drainage improvements  – 03/11/25 – 02/03/26

The second phase of works on the A470/A483 will extend from the Castle Street/Castle Road junction in the east, along the westbound corridor (Broad Street, High Street, West Street, and Garth Road), ending at the mini roundabout on Garth Road in the west. This second phase is scheduled to take place between Monday, 3rd November 2025, and Monday, 2nd March 2026. These essential resurfacing and improvement works are necessary to address areas of deterioration and failure, providing a smoother/safer running surface for road users, as well as improvements to drainage and pedestrian infrastructure.

03/11/25 - 2/12/25 - Castle Street: Eastbound and westbound lane closures under three-way traffic lights for approximately 4 weeks.

2/12/25 - 5/12/25 - Castle Street: Full closure at night between 19:00 and 07:00 (when traffic flows are lower). During the closure, the below diversions will be in place:

A470 Eastbound: Traffic heading eastbound on the A470 will be directed to follow the A483 to Llandovery, then take the A40 eastbound to Brecon, where it can rejoin the A470 and continue their journey as planned.

A470 Westbound: Traffic heading westbound on the A470 will be advance-warned at the A470/A479 junction to take the A470 southbound to Brecon, join the A40 westbound to Llandovery, then take the A483 northbound to Builth Wells and continue their journey as planned.

Non-vehicular traffic should wait at the closure points until they can be safely escorted/directed through the closed section.
