A40 Resurfacing Works between the A40/A449 junction at Raglan to the A40/A466 Junction North of the Gibraltar Tunnels in Monmouth

A40 Monmouth

Work to carry out essential carriageway resurfacing to an 8Km section of the A40 in both direction between the A40/A449 junction at Raglan to the A40/A466 Junction North of the Gibraltar Tunnels in Monmouth, will commence on 12/03/2024 excluding weekends and bank holiday embargos.

These works have been delayed due to adverse weather.

The work will be done overnight only Monday-Friday. The road will be closed between the Raglan A40/A449 junction and the A40/A466 Junction to the North of the Gibraltar Tunnels in Monmouth one direction at a time.

Northbound

2 April 20:00 - 02 May 06:00 (excluding weekends)

  • Overnight closure A40 Northbound between the A40/A449 junction at Raglan and the A40/A466 Junction between 20:00 – 06:00.
  • Overnight closure of the A40/ A449 northbound on slip between 20:00 – 06:00.
  • Overnight closure of both on and off slips at Monmouth Services Northbound between 20:00 – 06:00.

     

Southbound 

7 May 20:00 - 21 June 06:00 (excluding weekends)

  • Overnight closure A40 Southbound between A40/A466 Junction and the A40/A449 junction at Raglan between 20:00 – 06:00.
  • Overnight closure of the A40 on-slip at Mitchell Troy between 20:00 – 06:00.
  • Overnight closure of both on and off slips at Monmouth Services Southbound between 20:00 – 06:00.

Diversion

Northbound Traffic will be diverted using the A449 to Junction 24 of the M4, the M4 Eastbound across the Prince of Wales bridge joining the M5 at Junction 15, Leaving the M5 at Junction 8 to join the M50 to its termination at Ross on Wye where the A40 can be utilised.

Southbound Traffic will be diverted using A40 to Ross on Wye, where it will join the M50 where traffic meets the M5 at Junction 8 It will join to travel southbound to Junction 15 where it will join the M4, cross the Prince of Wales bridge and proceed to Junction 24. Then joining the A449 to travel Northbound to the Raglan A40/A449 Junction.
