Work to install a traffic sign and safety barrier on the M48 westbound verge between M48 J2 and M4 J23 will commence on
The traffic sign is being installed as part of an air quality improvement scheme. The sign will direct westbound traffic for Newport Docks to exit the M4 at J23, aiming to reduce levels of NO2 emissions between M4 J25 and J26.
The work will be carried out over 7 nights 20:00 – 06:00 under a full westbound carriageway closure between M48 J2 westbound onslip and M4 J23 westbound onslip.

22/04/2024 – 26/04/2024 (4 nights)
The works are being carried out overnight when traffic flows are historically lower to minimise disruption. The road will be reopened at 06:00 daily after each overnight closure
Westbound traffic will be diverted from M48 J2 via the M48 eastbound to M4 J20, M5 southbound to J16, re-join M5 northbound to J15, join the M4 westbound at J20 and continue westbound to M4 J23.
