A section of the A40 dual carriageway between Brynich Roundabout and the village of Llanhamlach (approximately 2.7km) is undergoing a safety review following recent changes in accident data along the route. The aim of this review is to improve road user safety and reduce the risk of collisions.
The works will include reducing the speed limit to 50mph, improving road markings and signage, and installing new safety barriers. A short section of the westbound carriageway will also be changed from a dual carriageway to a single carriageway to improve visibility and safety at a nearby junction.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, the road will be fully closed overnight as follows:
- Westbound closure: affecting the A40 between Brynich Roundabout and the village of Llanhamlach from 27/01 to 29/01, between 20:00 and 06:00
- Eastbound closure: affecting the A40 between Brynich Roundabout and the village of Llanhamlach from 29/01 to 31/01, between 20:00 and 06:00
Traffic will be diverted along the A470 / A438 / A479 between Brynich Roundabout and Crickhowell.
