Essential carriageway surfacing repairs and structural maintenance work.
The scope of works includes :
Replacement of the bridge deck waterproofing, the existing expansion joints, the Densotape to the parapets and replacements of the sealant to the edge beams at the joint locations.
- Resurfacing of the bridge deck.
Cleaning of all structural elements. - Concrete testing.
To facilitate these activities there will be :
- Closure on M4 J32 WB On-Slip ‘night time only’.
- Various Lane Closures on Coryton Gyratory ‘Night Time Only’.
- Footway Closure 24 Hours

Coryton North - The footbridge will reopen for public use on Tuesday, 16th December 2025.
Coryton South - A structural defect was identified during the refurbishment works, which has delayed the planned reopening date. We are currently reviewing the repair options and will provide updates through our social media platforms once further information is available
We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the duration of these essential works.
Please note - To support the diversion route currently in place and assist local residents and commuters, bus travel will be free between Tongwynlais and the Village Hotel, Coryton via the Number 132 bus service.
This service will begin on 3rd November 2025 and run throughout the maintenance works period at Coryton North Footbridge.
