Work to carry out essential carriageway resurfacing along the A40 Carmarthen Bypass between Pensarn Roundabout (A40/A48) and Glangwili Roundabout (A40/A485) on both the eastbound and westbound carriageway. The resurfacing works will commence on 19/06/2025 for a period of 21 nights with an additional night planned on the 25/07/2025 to replace existing bridge joints.
In addition to the above, waterproofing repair work is to be carried out on Towy River Bridge (Pont Cynnwr). In order to undertake these works safely the A40 mainline in the westbound direction between Glangwili Roundabout (A40/A485) and Llangunnor Roundabout (A40/A484) will be closed to traffic from Friday 4th July (20:00) through to Sunday 6th July (06:00).
The resurfacing works will be carried out between Thursday 19th June and Friday 25th July overnight between 20:00 – 06:00 under a series of full closures on the eastbound and westbound carriageway between Pensarn Roundabout (A40/A48) and Glangwili Roundabout (A40/A485). During the daytime, there will be periods where traffic will be running on the milled surface prior to the resurfacing works being carried out, temporary markings and signage will be in place during this period and the speed limit will be reduced to 40mph.
In order to undertake essential waterproofing repair work on Towy River Bridge (Pont Cynnwr), the A40 mainline in the westbound direction between Glangwili Roundabout (A40/A485) and Llangunnor Roundabout (A40/A484) will be closed to traffic from Friday 4th July (20:00) through to Sunday 6th July (06:00). Every effort will be made to reopen the carriageway as soon as possible during this weekend to minimise disruption.
