A465 Dowlais to Tredegar – Essential maintenance including installation of lighting columns

The works will be carried out over 5 weeks, primarily overnight during the hours of 20:00 to 06:00, under full closures of the individual entry slip road and exit slip road on the Rhymney junction with lane closures of the A465 (in both directions). There will also be related lane closures with temporary traffic signal control for diverted and local traffic utilising the roundabouts on Rhymney Junction. Road closures are required to exclude general traffic from the works area for the safety of the workforce and travelling public.

During road closures, affected A465 westbound vehicles will be diverted at Rhymney Junction to continue on A465 and to come off at the Dowlais Top junction, to then continue following diversion route signs and re-join the A465 to head eastbound and exit at the slip road for Rhymney junction to continue onward journeys. 

Affected eastbound vehicles will be diverted at Rhymney Junction to continue on A465 and to come off at the Tredegar junction, to then continue following diversion route signs and re-join the A465 to head westbound before coming off at the slip road for Rhymney junction to continue onward journeys. There will be related lane closures with temporary traffic signal control, for diverted traffic picking up onward journeys and for local traffic following local diversions utilising the roundabouts on Rhymney Junction.
