Start Date: 23/02/26 | End Date: 13/03/26
Essential carriageway surfacing works
The works will include planing the existing carriageway surface, adjusting manhole covers and gully gratings, laying a new asphalt surface course, reinstating road studs, and applying high‑friction surfacing and road markings. Please note that no weekend working is planned for this scheme.
To minimise disruption to the travelling public the work will be carried out at night with a full road closure in place between 19:00 and 06:00, the road will be fully open outside these hours. This closure is essential to ensure the safety of operatives and site staff, allowing construction activities to proceed without the risks associated with live traffic.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this period. Please be aware that closures will occur Monday to Friday, between 19:00 and 06:00.
Full Road closure together with fully signed diversion route.
Traffic will be diverted along the signed diversion southwest along the A470 to Cemmaes Road roundabout onto the A489 to Machynlleth, then north on to the A487, then onto the A470 to Mallwyd roundabout, and vice versa for north to south traffic.
High‑sided vehicles unable to pass under the Machynlleth railway bridge (14’0”), which forms part of the diversion route, or the Pontolgoch railway bridge on the A470 are advised to avoid the area during the closure periods or to anticipate significant delays.
Comprehensive consideration has been given to the effects of the works on road users, residents and the workforce, including the type of temporary traffic management (such as full road closures with local diversions, contraflow systems, lane closures), the extent of road space required, the scheduled dates and times of the works, and any other concurrent activities.
