Essential works to rebuild a retaining wall supporting the A470 between Talerddig and Llanbrynmair.
The works will involve the complete excavation of the carriageway in order to rebuild the wall and there is therefore no option other than to close the road between the dates below.
Between Friday, 20/12/24 and Friday, 14/02/25 ancillary works will be undertaken to complete the repair under 2-way traffic lights.
A470 full carriageway closure between 09:00 on 31/10/2024 and 17:00 on 20/12/2024
2-way traffic lights between 17:00 on 20/12/2024 and 17:00 on 14/02/2025
The A470 will be closed 24hr a day to all vehicles during the closure period. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists. Westbound taffic will be diverted via Caersws, Newtown (A483), Welshpool and Mallwyd (A458) to rejoin the route at Glantwymyn.
Eastbound traffic will follow the above diversion in reverse.
