Operation Cybi is a new traffic management system to help reduce potential disruption and delays for HGV drivers at the Port of Holyhead as a result of the EU Exit
Instructions for HGV drivers who’ve been turned away from Holyhead Port due to errors in required documentation
If you have been turned away from Holyhead Port check-in as a result of insufficient or incorrect paperwork you will need to acquire the correct documentation before trying to embark again. You will be asked to leave the port and to follow the diversion route outlined in this document.
The diversion routes allow you to stay close to the port and provide you with a location where you can resolve any paperwork issues so that you can continue on your journey with as minimum disruption as possible. The routes are marked with different coloured shapes to ensure that they are easy to follow. There will also be toilet facilities provided for HGV drivers at all stacking sites.
If you are turned away from the port, please follow the blue square diversion route.
The blue square will direct you from the port back onto the A55 via the contraflow. You are then required to exit at Jct 3. Here you will be signposted around the roundabouts to re-enter the A55 on the westbound carriageway as shown above.
If you are turned away from the port please ensure that you follow the blue square diversion route back to Junction 3 on the A55.
Please follow any directions/or instructions that you are given by the marshals in the A55 stacking area. When you become border ready an escort service will be available approximately every 30 minutes to escort HGV traffic safely and efficiently from the A55 stacking in lane 2. Please do not try to exit the stacking area without the escort vehicle. This is for your own safety, other HGV drivers and the marshals.
Instructions for HGV drivers who are travelling to Holyhead Port, when the port is no longer able to process outbound ferry traffic
If you are on your way to Holyhead Port and there are significant delays to the ferry crossings you will be directed off at Junction 3 westbound before you arrive at the port. This applies to all HGV drivers whether they are border ready or not.
This is to ensure that there is sufficient space for delayed HGVs to reach the port safely and without causing significant disruption to local traffic.
You will be signposted to enter the A55 stacking area at Junction 3.
If you ignore this instruction it will delay your boarding further as you will have to join the back of the queue once more.
You will then be released from this area in batches when the Port Authority is ready to receive HGV traffic.
Toilet facilities are available for HGV drivers who are being held in the A55 stacking area every 500m. You are kindly asked to remain in your vehicle during this time and to comply with covid regulations and any other directions you are given by the marshals. This is to ensure yours and others’ safety:-
